Obituary

Mary Jane Tauber, age 94, a life-long resident of Oshkosh, died Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Park View Health Center. Born on May 6, 1919, the daughter of John and Teresa Kriz Tauber, Mary Jane's mother died when she and her sister, Rosemary, were very young. Their father subsequently married Teresa's widowed sister, Mary, who raised the girls as her own.
An active member of St. Vincent Catholic Church, Mary Jane attended Mass daily with her sister, Rosemary. She was a graduate of St. Vincent Grade School and graduated from St. Peter Catholic High School in 1938. Mary Jane and Rosemary volunteered many hours at both St. Vincent Grade School and Father Carr's Place 2 Be.
She enjoyed participating in St. Vincent Christian Women's Society and Lakeside Quilters. Mary Jane was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. Her skills were evident in her beautiful creations, especially her detailed hand sewn quilts. Mary Jane was employed as a bookkeeper at Wilson's Music & Appliance Company for many years.
Preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Rosemary; and many cousins, Mary Jane is survived by her close friends, the Eugene Troxell family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Jude the Apostle Parish, St. Vincent Catholic Church, 1225 Oregon Street, with Reverend Mathew Simonar and Reverend William Van De Kreeke co-officiating. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until Mass time at the church. A memorial in Mary Jane's name is being established.
