Melvin E. George, age 74 of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Sunday November 11, 2007 at Northpoint Medical & Rehab.Center. He was born in Redgranite on July 20, 1933 the son of Orlo and Marvel (Perry) George. In 1954, he married Florence J. Hansen at First Baptist Temple of Oshkosh. Melvin was a proud member of the Oshkosh Racing Pigeon Club, enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, especially sheepshead, riding horses, traveling, and taking bus tours to the casino's. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Florence George, Oshkosh; three children, Rose, Larry, and David (Veronica) George; three sisters, Mabel, Fern and Kay, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Jean and June. Funeral Services for Melvin will be held on Wednesday November 14, 2007, at 2:00 P.M., at Fox Cities Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 P.M. until time of services. A special thanks to the nurses and staff at Northpoint Medical & Rehab., for their wonderful care and compassion that was given to Melvin and his family, and God bless everybody who has touched Melvin's life through the years.
