Michael “Mike” S. Essick, age 66, passed away with loved ones by his side on September 5, 2026, in Oshkosh, WI. He was born on October 14, 1959, to the late Patricia L. (Eichten) Essick and Russell L. Essick Jr., in Chicago, IL.

Right after high school, Mike entered into the United States Air force, proudly serving both active and reserves from 1977 to 1984. He worked in the manufacturing field at both Generiac and Great Northern until his retirement.

Mike was a huge sports fan, from college level to the majors and everything in-between. He especially liked to cheer on the Chicago Bears, the Chicago White Socks, as well as the Chicago Black Hawks teams. He also enjoyed listening to music and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his siblings, Robin (Daniel) Zepeda, Craig (Anne) Essick and Susan Pripusich; sister-in-law, Grace Essick; extended family, fiancée, Vicki Cook and her children, April Cook, Keith (Teresa) Cook and Kimberly (Adam) Braasch; grandchildren, Cory and Tyler Paulsen, Kyle and Grant Cook and Sutton and Levi Brassch, son-in-law, Scott Paulsen; and many friends.

Preceding him in death was his parents, Patricia L. (Eichten) Essick and Russell L. Essick Jr.; brother, Mark Essick; and brother-in-law, Anthony Pripusich.

A private memorial with military honors will be held with family, and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

His memory will be cherished by his fiancée and caregiver, Vicki Cook, her family and her grandchildren.
