Nathaniel A. Herbst, age 26, of Menasha and formerly of Omro died unexpectedly at his residence on February 28, 2012. Nate was born in Neenah on August 23, 1985 the son of Gary and Doreen (Monroe) Herbst-Benedict. Nate was a graduate of Omro High School, while in middle school he was active in youth wrestling. Nate spent many years working as kitchen help at the Main Street restaurant in Omro, and prior to his death Nate was working in construction.


Nate is lovingly survived by his mother, Doreen, his father Gary (Anne Dunlap), his stepfather Thomas Benedict, and his brother Jeffrey (Jennifer) Herbst. Also left to mourn Nate's passing are his grandparents; Marjorie Kallin, James & Sandy Monroe, William & Diane Benedict, and Gisela Benedict, also surviving Nate are his nieces and nephew; Hannah, Andrew, and Gracie-Mae. Nate is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Nate was especially close to his cousin and best friend Chad Jones.

Nate was preceded in death by his infant sister Elizabeth, his Uncle Albert, his grandparents Dorothy & Russell Herbst. Many of Nate's close friends and his great grandparents also preceded him in death.

The family will greet friends and relatives on March 7, 2012 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 620 Division St., Neenah, at 10:00 AM until the memorial mass at noon with Reverend Michael Ingold officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Benedict family.

Nate touched many lives and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
