Norbert W. Schry, age 64, of Oshkosh, passed away on December 22, 2013, surrounded by his wife and children after a brief battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife and partner of 16 years; Julieann and his best buddy-his dog Abby.
Norbert was born on February 5, 1949, in Berlin, WI the son of Robert and Juanita (Lipke) Schry. He attended Berlin High School where he met his first wife. They married and had three children who survive him: Michelle (Maria), Greg (Penny), and Todd (Aleksandra). After the birth of his first child he began to work at Mercury Marine in 1969 where he would spend his 44 year career until his death. After his divorce, Norbert married Julieann Alto in 1997. Norbert is further survived by his mother Juanita, his sister; Christine (Gary) Wittchow, his paternal aunt Donna (Robert) Kwidzinski, his maternal uncle Bud Lipke, his grandchildren Stephan Schry, and Sara (David) Wirth, his dear friends Tom and Marcia Galicia, and his special cousin Lowella (Steve) Stucker, Julieann's daughter Lisa and her husband Mike (the other Daryl) who became his close friend, and many other friends, family and loved ones. Norbert was preceded in death by his father Robert.
Norbert was an avid hunter, fisherman, and closet poet. He taught all of his children to work with their hands, to build, to fix, and to create. He had a quick wit, a sharp tongue, and a sense of humor that always kept us laughing. His sometimes rough exterior protected a heart of gold. He was loyal, loving, and tender to those who were willing to see below the surface.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. December 28, 2013, at the Oshkosh Senior Center-North Building, 200 N. Campbell Rd. Oshkosh, WI.
He was taken from us too soon and will be sorely missed by all of us left behind.
