Obituary

Paul A. Thompson, age 65, passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness on October 8, 2024, in Oshkosh, WI. He was born to parents, Russell and Louise (Malsin) Thompson in Beaver Dam, WI.

After graduating from Oshkosh North High School, Paul went on to a 44-year career at Hoffmaster where he formed many close relationships and excelled as a Group Leader. Although work was important, he took the most pride in raising his two daughters, Brooke and Kate.

Paul was an avid fan of all sports teams in Wisconsin, especially the Green Bay Packers. He appreciated the simple things in life.  A cup of coffee or a good meal with close friends would soothe his soul.  He had an eclectic array of passions.  From listening to all types of music, Led Zepplin to George Winston, reading, trying new foods, maintaining his yard, watching the birds, and playing sheepshead.  Most of his spare time was spent with his daughters.  Paul was their best friend and rock.  His grandchildren were a great source of joy, and he cherished every moment with them.

He is survived by his daughters, Brooke (Matthew) Zeamer and Kate (Samantha O'Dell) Thompson; grandchildren, Jack, Grace and Levi Zeamer; siblings, Julie Lang, Anne (Darel) Boyce, Jane Steiner, Rita (Duane) Lepianka and Betsy (Paul) LaFontaine; sister-in-law, Diane Thompson; brother-in-law, Randy Moore; grand-puppy, Zoey; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Russell and Louise (Malsin) Thompson; siblings, Kathy & husband James Stromske, Thomas Thompson and Mary Lou Moore; brother-in-law and close friend, Richard Steiner.  Plus, his two cherished pups, Molly and Ruby.

The family would like to thank the team of doctors, staff and hospice workers- especially Stacey and Kelly, from the ThedaCare Family, for their responsiveness, kindness and on-going care during each part of Paul's journey.

There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Paul's honor.

"Every time I think of you, I always catch my breath And I'm still standing here and you're miles away.  And I'm wondering why you left."  ~ Lyrics from Missing You by John Waite
