Paul P. Zagorski, Jr., age 80, of Waupaca, died peacefully at Bethany Nursing Home surrounded by the love of his family on Thursday evening, April 16, 2009, following a short illness. Paul was born on August 18, 1928, in Chicago, IL, the son of Paul and Evelyn Heyse Zagorski. He was educated in the Chicago School System and graduated from Kelly High School in Chicago. Paul served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded numerous medals including the United Nations Service Medal and the Bronze Star. After returning home from the service, he married Ann Montowski in Chicago on November 21, 1953. After living and working in the Chicago area for 17 years, Paul moved his family to Marion, WI, where he owned and operated Paul's Liquor Store from 1970 until 1982. Paul and his wife then moved to Waupaca, WI, and lived there until the early 1990's. While in Waupaca, Paul worked at the Waupaca Foundry until his retirement. In 1992, Paul and his wife moved to Florida where they lived for the next ten years. In 2003, they again made Waupaca their home. Paul had many passions in life. He enjoyed reading, walking, exercising, sports and the company of his family. He was also a huge Bing Cosby fan.
Paul is loved and will be missed by his wife, Ann Zagorski of Waupaca; children, Cheryl (Charlie) Kerneen of Ogdensburg, WI, Donna Zagorski of Green Bay, WI and Paul (Vicky) Zagorski of Orlando, Fl; grandchildren, Paul Zagorski, Jr. and Maxwell Zagorski of Orlando, Fl, and Nicole (David) Fasules of Wauwatosa, WI; brothers, Eugene (Flo) Zagorski of Stevens Point, WI, Jerry (Pat) Zagorski of Illinois; sisters, Vivian (Peter) Kanelos and Yvonne (Rod) Nielsen both of Illinois. Paul is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A private family service will be held.
