Obituary

Phyllis Ruth Gray (Peters) age 81 passed away unexpectedly on June 18,2025 at Cherry Meadows with her family by her side. She was born on Dec.10,1943 and raised by her parents, Herbert and Arlene Peters in Oshkosh.

Phyllis married the love her life Richard on November 20, 1964, in Oshkosh and they most recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. Together they raised 4 children, Brad (Sharon) Gray, Tracy (Fred) Van Drieson, Chad (Monica) Gray, Jesse (Yessica) Gray. She was a stay-at-home mom until she started their business of Nite Owl Cleaning.

Mom also was a person that was a Jack of all trades like rebuilding Carburetors at the kitchen table with dad.

Phyllis Loved to Crochet afghans, she spent countless hours on them! She would keep some for herself, give some to family and friends and sometimes give them as gifts.  She also enjoyed home shopping on QVC and HSN. Grandma also cherished visits from all her grandchildren, Britney (Cody) Tanya (Adam), Grant Fahser (Kathleen), Tristen (Sami), Isaiah, Nakita (Jaccob), Hailey (Luis) and Kori; also great grandchildren, Tony, Dakota, Lindsay, Jessica, Anthony, Lily, Emmett, Oliver, Jermiah, Ezekeil, Liam, Annallia, Melanie, Ezra, Sapphire, Travis Jr. and Maverick. She loved to spoil them all and send them home!

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Arlene Peters; infant son, Jerry; seven brothers, Clint, Manuel, Jerry, David, Bruce, Herbert Jr., Mike; and one sister, Amber.

Phyllis greatly enjoyed watching her TV shows, Walker Texas Ranger, Star Trek, Westerns with dad and movies like the legend of boggy creek (Bigfoot), Elvis movies, and of course the Green Bay Packers! Phyllis's faith in Jehovah has always been a daily part of her life with Richard and family. Mom loved all of her brothers and sisters from the congregation.

Our mom was always very humble; she would always put others before herself. She is very known for her delicious potato salad and homemade bread. Mom could also drive any type of vehicle from hot rods to dump trucks, but she really loved her white dodge minivan with her wolf license plate!  We believe that she also had a part of keeping Coca-cola, Pizza Hut and West End Pizza in business.

To celebrate our mom, grandma, great grandma, aunt, sister on Saturday June 28, 2025, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 3343 Omro Rd Oshkosh WI. Visitation is at 2pm and Service will be at 3pm.

We would like to give a special thank you to the staff and doctor at ThedaCare Hospital, and especially Lisa and Karen and staff at Cherry Meadows.
