Raymond "Ray" Joseph Sell, age 75, passed away on September 21, 2025, at home with his family by his side in Oshkosh, WI. He was born on January 27, 1950, to parents, Myron Franklin and Margaret Mary (Walker) Sell at St. Mary's, Rochester, MN.
After graduating high school at Cason Manorville High, he went on to continue his education. He was a jack of all trades, worked doing HVAC systems, then at AmeriCable and then his favorite position as a head chef.
He also raised five children with Robin (Fields) Sell. Ray will be remembered for being funny, having unique banter with each one of his children, observant, and as a big teddy bear underneath it all.
Ray loved cooking, as it was an art form, a beautiful choreography between movement and food elements, with his whistling whisking through the kitchen. In his free time, he enjoyed playing on his computer- as well as taking it apart and taking on the challenge of putting it back together, listening to music and talk radio, going to live concerts with his granddaughters, and most of all, spending time with his children and watching his granddaughters grow.
He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Sell and Rebecca (Matthew) Schmidt; sons, Phillip (Emily Holz), Alexander (Charisse) Sell and Daniel Sell; granddaughters, Hailey Kranz, Abigayle (Jacob) Downer, Sophia Sell, Mackenzie, Natalie and Oaklee Schmidt; sisters, Susan (Rad) Cox, Rebecca (Gene) Luna, Stephanie (Jay) Sell-Rostow and Barb Sell; brothers, Gary, Joe, John (Pam) and Timothy (Colleen) Sell; mother of children, Robin (Fields) Sell; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Myron and Margaret; brother, Thomas Sell; sister, Marilyn Rubio; and good friend, Tami Rens.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, as he will be placed near his brother, Thomas Sell at the Sunset Sanctuary in Farmington, Mn.
The family would like to thank the staff at ThedaCare Health at Home Hospice for their care and compassion.
