Robert James

Robert “Bobby” James, age 77, passed away with family by his side on September 20, 2026, in Oshkosh, WI. He was born on January 5, 1949, to parents, Dennison and Mary Jane (Askinette) Sr., in Keshena, WI.

He graduated from Shawano High School and went on to obtain an associate’s degree as a machinist at the Fox Valley Technical College. He worked for the Neenah Foundry, retiring as a Foundry Supervisor after 27 years.

On November 29, 1980, he married Ruth Nelson, in Shawano, WI. Together, they moved to Oshkosh in 1984.

In his free time, he enjoyed trout fishing on the Evergreen, scratching lottery scratchers and was an avid fan of the Brewers and Green Bay Packers. Above all, he loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren and family.

He is survived by his children, Robert (Deanna) James Sr., Mary James, Kristi Diener, Tessa (Jamey) James and Mindy James; along with 22 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; siblings, Karen “Pumkin” (Clifford) Wilber, Melvin “Mousie” James, Anthony “Smelly” James, Deanna Bolvin, David (Bridgett) James, Stanley “Bull” (Pattie) James and Glenda (Dale) Kaquatosh; as well as many other family and friends.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Ruth James; son, Todd James; granddaughter, Andrea James; parents, Dennison and Mary Jane (Askinette) Sr.; siblings, Dennison “Tonto” James, Violet “Jitter” Tucker, Marvin “Joe Brown” James, Gordon “Gutts” James and Richard James; best buddies, Randal Madosh and Curt Wayka; and daughter-in-law, Faye James.

A private family gathering has taken place.
