Robert Ray Kabke passed away unexpectedly at his home on December 5, 2016. He was born on September 19, 1926 in Oshkosh to Arthur and Anna Kabke. Robert quit school and joined the Navy in 1943 during WWII. He was stationed in Okinawa, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and achieved the rank of 1st Class Petty Officer. When he returned from service he became a bricklayer and married June Schlender. They had three children. They were later divorced. In 1995 he retired form Scolding Locks Mill as a shop foreman after nearly 30 years. Robert remarried in 1978 to Harriet McIlhone, who preceded him in death in 2015.Robert is survived by three children: William (Gloria) Kabke, Thomas Kabke and Karla (Ernie)Shuckhart; six grandchildren: Shane Kabke, Samantha Kabke (Paul), Heather (Seth) Otto, Jennifer (Ben) Karner, Robert Shuckhart and Heidi Shuckhartl; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; six step-children and their families; and his beloved dog, Midge.A visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of entombment at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2016 at Lakeview Memorial Park, 2786 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh.
