Bob Slater, age 56 of Oshkosh passed away on Wednesday December 10, 2008 at his residence. On January 26, 1952 he was born in Oshkosh, son of the late Arthur and Lillian (Kolpack) Slater. Bob was self-employed as an upholsterer doing commercial jobs as well as the quality work he did for the general public. He was considered highly talented in his field, not only with his hands but also with his innovative mind.
Bob was a good man, generous and loved by family and friends, including Bob's constant companion, his dog Shoester. Bob's great pleasure was vacations to Texas where he was able to relax on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. A most memorable visit to Texas was a trip with his son, James. A trip that was a father-son excursion to be remembered always. Bob's good-natured persona will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his son James Slater, two sisters, Millie (Dick) Harron and Donna (Armand) Eberhary, sister-in-law Dorothy (Dave) Beier, brother-in-law Dennis Bloechl and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harald Slater and sister Blanche Blaichl.
Cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday December 20, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Community Church, 2351 Ryf Rd. Oshkosh, WI
