Obituary

Ronald C. Williamson, age 74 of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully Saturday May 1, 2010 at Evergreen Retirement Community, while surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Ron was born in Town of Burke, Wisconsin on January 27, 1936 the son of Edward and Myrtle (Anderson) Williamson. He graduated from DeForest High School in 1954, and later joined the United States Army in 1958. Ron was stationed in Germany and had the chance to meet Elvis Presley while serving there. After leaving the Army in 1960, he was employed at Madison Sand & Gravel, until retiring in 1999. He had a great love of country and polka music, playing poker with his family, enjoyed watching the Sunday night midget car races at Sun Prairie, watching his grandkids play sports, football and the Brewers on television, was a great artist, was a well read man who enjoyed talking politics over a strong cup of coffee. He was a great listener and loved visiting with family. He was a kind, compassionate, empathetic man who loved to share a laugh, and never complained about anything, putting people's needs before his own. Ron is survived by his children; Lynn Williamson, Connie (Mike) Day, Tanya (Kurt) Munson, Eric Kellesvig (fiancé Danette Schutte), Beth Kellesvig ( Jan Retelle), seven grandchildren; Amber, Mike, Zack, Jake, Amanda, Jarred and Mason, one great-grandchild Trentin, one sister Darlene (Ron) Klock, one sister-in-law Marvie (Butch) Klamrowski, special friend Darlene Williamson, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Edward and Richard Williamson, one sister-in-law Louise Williamson and one daughter-in-law Joyce Kellesvig. A Funeral Service for Ron will be held on Thursday May 6, 2010 at 12:00 pm at Fox Cities Funeral Home with the Rev. Karen Jewell officiating. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 am until time of services. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Ron's name. The family would like to thank Dr. Dar and staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic, the staffs of Dr. Hsie, Creekview/Evergreen and Heartland Hospice for all the wonderful care and compassion that was given to Ron and his family.
