Shirley Rae (Genett) Horejs, age 74, died at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, WI, on Monday, April 8, 2013. She was born on May 30, 1938, in Spencer, the daughter of the late Forrest Genett and Grace (LaSage) Genett.

Shirley will be especially remembered for her unconditional love and support, irreverent sense of humor and quick wit, and overall zest for life and spirit of adventure. She loved the outdoors. Her hobbies included sailing and an unparalleled passion for tennis. She spent as much time as she could playing and watching tennis and formed numerous lifelong friendships through the sport.

Shirley also loved music even though she couldn't sing a note. A love and lack of talent she
passed along to her children. Her family and friends provided her much pride and joy. She cared for many loyal and loving dogs throughout the years including Pepper, Lizzy, Mitzie, Susie, Gus, Buster, Rufus, and Harry.

She will be fondly remembered by her longtime companion, Dick Mayoh, her children Bill (Chris) Horejs, Tim (Erin) Horejs, her grandchildren Nick, Anna, Kal, and Kate, siblings Forrest "Bud" Genett (Karen), Sharon (Roy) Radmaker, Fredrick (Debbe) Genett, Grace (Bill) Fischer, Alan (Judy) Genett, Linda (Charles) Wolf, Dean (Wanda) Genett, and sisters-in-law Irene Genett and Yvonne Genett as well as many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by daughter Linda, siblings Joyce (Genett) Anderson, Darryl Genett, Edward Genett, and nephew Nick Genett.

Per Shirley's wishes, there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local Humane Society or non-profit Animal Shelter.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the second floor nursing staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital for their love, support, and tender care over Shirley's final days.
