Shirley Mae Kempf (McClaire) age 84 died on February 9, 2012 at her residence with her family by her side. Shirley was born on April 8, 1927 the daughter of Archie & Theresa (Rein) McClaire in Glidden, WI. She married Lawrence (Cherry) Kempf on January 23, 1944.
Shirley was an avid gardener, who loved collecting lawn ornaments. Shirley also enjoyed knitting and made numerous treasured items for family members. Shirley was a lifetime member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in Glidden, WI. She was a member of St. Anne's Sodality where she was in charge of funeral luncheons for over thirty years. Shirley was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW.
Loving mother of her children; Lawrence( Larry) (Marcia) Kempf of Burlington, Mark (Roberta) Kempf of Schaumburg, IL., Barney (Mary) Kempf of Oshkosh, Thomas Kempf of Burlington, Shelley Kempf of Ashland, and Lisa (Ron) Kempf of Oshkosh. Proud grandmother to: 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and one great grandchild due in August. Shirley is also survived by her sisters; Bernice Eder, and Mary Stammers, her brother; Arthur (Buck) McClaire. Mary Einechner, and Dolores Kempf her sisters in law, and numerous nieces and nephews are also left to mourn Shirley's death.
Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband Lawrence, her parents Archie & Theresa, her grandson Brian Kempf, her granddaughter Theresa Hamilton, her sister Peggy and her brothers Jack and Neil.
The family would like to thank Father Luke for his comforting words, the doctors and nurses at Mercy Medical Center, and the care team from Affinity VNA and Hospice services.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 256 E. 2nd St., Glidden, WI. on Saturday February 18, 2012 from 10:00A.M. until the time of the service at 11:00 A.M. with Father William Brenna presiding.
