Tom Klabunde was born on June 3, 1943, to Lester and Violet (Pofahl) Klabunde and died on June 30, 2026. Tom was born the 3rd of 7 children and graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1961.
He proudly served in the Airforce mostly at Offutt Airforce Base in Nebraska and was their top mechanic. He was chosen to repair President Kennedy’s Airforce One, which he was very proud of. Tom worked for 39 years as a clerk at the Oshkosh Post Office and served as the postmaster at the downtown station toward the end of his career. He used to laugh that they went downhill after he retired. Tom traveled to many tropical places including his favorite, Cozumel MX, and happily completed a bucket list item of visiting all 50 states just recently.
Tom is survived by his wife, Carol; his son, Kyle and his partner, Nathan Norton in TX; his daughter, Robyn (Brandon) Floyd in WA and their twin sons Benjamin and Alexander and their daughter Violet. He is also survived by his stepson Kurt Flack (Lisa Spears) and their daughter Paulina Spears. He is further survived by his brother, Steven (Donna) Klabunde; his sisters, Judith Nelson and Karen Thompson; as well as a sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Violet; his sister, Linda Shellnutt; and his brothers, Rev. Richard Klabunde and Charles Klabunde; and his brother-in-law, Ron Nelson.
A small remembrance gathering for immediate family will be held in the future.
