Obituary
Thomas "Tom" Allen Nelson, passed away with his family by his side on September 14, 2025, in Oshkosh, WI. He was born on May 19, 1960, to parents, James "Jim" Edward and Mary Ann (Jurstick) Nelson, in Michigan. The youngest of 5- one sister and three brothers.
After attending high school in Michigan, he served in the United States Army. He then returned to civilian life and worked as a refrigeration technician for many years until his retirement. Tom had one daughter, the light if his eye, Kathryn "Kat."
Family meant everything to him, and he will be remembered for being firm, but kindhearted and always being there for his daughter and grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoyed watching old western shows, sci-fi shows and horror movies with Kat. He also was very fond of being called a "Trekkie" as he was a passionate fan of the series Star Trek.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Kathryn Mares; grandchildren, Marcus Mares and Lucas Mares; best friend, "Uncle Monto;" close friend and mother of his child, Dana Nelson; several siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, James "Jim" and Mary Nelson and sister, Patty Ellis.
Per his wishes, no formal services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, condolences can be sent directly to Kathryn. Any cards sent to the funeral home will also be forwarded to her.
