The world lost an angel on November 30, 2008 when Verne E. Thorne died peacefully at
Aurora Medical Center holding hands with his beloved wife of 28 years. He was born on September 13, 1930 in Chicago, Il. Verne worked for the EJ & E Railroad in Joliet, Illinois as a brake man and conductor for 31 years until the day he retired in 1986. He later moved to Wisconsin where he enjoyed his retirement by fishing and crafts. Verne leaves behind his loving wife Donna Thorne (nee Bennett), a brother, Darold Thorne of Missouri, sons; Patrick Thorne of Crest Hill, IL and Mark (Paola) Dupuis of Florida, daughters; Catherine (Randy) Clemens of Joliet, IL and Pamela (Arthur) Sells of Bolingbrook, IL. Verne also leaves behind six grandchildren, one great-grandson, numerous nieces and nephews. Verne is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Maxine Thorne, one brother Charles (Billie Jean) Thorne and a son Wayne G. Dupuis.
A Memorial Service for Verne will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday December 6, 2008 at Fox Cities Funeral Home. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 am until time of services. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that any one wishing to can make donations to the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh, WI.
