Obituary

Vernon George Foust, "Bucky" died peacefully Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Eden Meadows in Oshkosh from complications of a stroke he suffered six days earlier. Bucky was born May 9, 1920, in Oshkosh, the son of William Raymond and Ruth Burt (Church) Foust.

It is hard to sum up the life of a person who has lived ninety five years.

Following high school he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps, (CCC's),
planting trees and surveying land in the Nicolet National Forest. Vernon trained to be a tool and die maker. He married Marilyn (Chic), on May 2nd 1942. In October of that year he was called to serve in the U.S. Army, and earned four battle stars in the European Arena. He was then reunited with his wife and together they built a life. They raised four children and shared 72 years of marriage together. Vernon worked as a machinist for Mercury Marine and Giddings & Lewis in Fond du Lac Wisconsin and retired after 37 years. In 1956 Vernon and Marilyn purchased land to start what is now known as Wauquette Tree Farm located both in Waushara and Marquette Counties. Through the years the Tree Farm has produced Christmas trees, pulp wood for paper, and logs for log cabins. The plantation of Norway (Red) and White pines are now timber trees.

Bucky often expressed these words, "Leave a place (any place), better than you find it." Vernon and Marilyn have left this world a better place and have influenced others in that regard.
