Vern "V" Ratchman, age 76, passed away unexpectedly with his family by his side on March 6, 2024, at St. Luke's Hospital, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was born to parents, Victor and Dorothy (Kuklinski) Ratchman on June 27, 1947, in Wisconsin.
He graduated from Oshkosh High (football star defender) and went into the United States Armed Forces, Army Branch. He then owned and ran Bogey's Pub and Grill at Westhaven Golf Course. Ultimately, he retired from Mercury Marine after 28 years.
Vern enjoyed camping, family road trips, watching all sports, especially the Packers Football and Brewer Baseball Teams, bowling, playing softball, and teaching Line Dancing in his spare time. He will be remembered for his sense of humor (especially his pranks and dad jokes), being kind, gentle, patient, loving to be around others and having an open-door policy.
He is survived by his daughter, Shelli (Chad) Bauldry; twin brother, Vic (Mona) Ratchman, brothers, Mike (Ava) Ratchman and Jerry (Jan) Ratchman; sister, Pearl (Ralph Gabriel) Poeschl; nieces and nephews, Brian ( Trish) Novotny, Joey (Joy) Novotny, Tina (Nick) Mills, Heidi (Ryan) Wienandt, Shannon (Eric Miller) Ratchman, Adam (Katie) Ratchman, Logan (Brady) Wagner, Mindy (Randy) Nelsen, Maggie (Russ) Long and Marcie (Lee) Pullen.
Preceding him in death was his parents, Victor and Dorothy (Kuklinski) Ratchman; grandparents; two sisters-in-law; and one brother-in-law.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Chiang at St. Luke's Hopsital and the medical team at St. Luke's ICU department for all of the care and compassion they gave Vern during his time spent there.
A Celebration of Life will be held May 4, 2024 from 1:00 to 7:00 at the Elks Club in Oshkosh.
