Obituary

Wayne E. "Koosie" Kuslits, age 81, passed away peacefully in the house he was born in on August 4, 2025, in Oakfield, WI. He was born on November 14, 1943, to parents, Oliver and Elenor (Rauls) Kuslits.

He attended Unity Grade School then in 1963, he graduated from Oakfield High School. From 1963-1966, he served in the United States Army. Wayne was stationed over in Germany and always had a good story to tell.

In 1978, he met Cheryl Rymer at Bud's Riverside, where they started out as best friends and fell in love. They married on July 1, 1988, in Boulder, CO, after dating for 10 years. They were just able to celebrate their 37 th anniversary. Together, they raised two children, Elissa and Emily.

When Wayne returned from the Army, he worked at Stoppleworth Construction, then Camelot Golf Course, L and H Gyr, and then Giddings and Lewis until his retirement in 2009. He also owned and operated his own Refrigeration and Ice Machine Repair Business. Wayne was also an excellent mechanic and big equipment operator. There was nothing he couldn't fix; he was a true handyman.

In 1961, he showed his passion for Aircraft and became a member of the EAA for over 60 years until he physically was unable to attend. He made a Gyrocopter, also known as a Gyroplane, which he modified with a Volkswagen engine. This would be attached by a tow strap to his brother-in-law, Jack's truck to pull him in the air and fly over the property. It took Cheryl 30 plus years to tell Wayne; she was not thrilled of the airshow. Her moto was, "if you've seen one plane, you've seen them all.

Wayne was a dedicated husband, father and Papa. He loved his children and grandchildren; they were his pride and joy. He never missed any sports or activities his girls were involved in. He was an Oakfield #1 fan.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Kuslits; children, Elissa Butcher and Emily (Scott) Peachey; grandchildren, Elayna, Emma and Emmett, Aubrie, Harper and Maverick; siblings, James (Mary) Kuslits, John Kuslits and Ursula (Terry Beesley) Frost; in-laws, Diane Kuslits, Lynn Upson, Jack Frost, Douglas (Irene) Rymer Jr., Ronald (Doris) Rymer, Robert Rymer, Marlene Hendricks, Joyce (Ron) Roth, Marlene (Reginald) Rymer and Dorothy Lou Proehl; plus many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
