IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wendy Lou
Van Zummeren
October 5, 1971 – December 21, 2025
Wendy Lou Van Zummeren of Neenah passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, at the age of 54. Wendy was born on October 5, 1971, in Appleton, WI, the second child of Patrick and Jane Van Zummeren.
Wendy was raised in Menasha and graduated from Menasha High in 1989. During her childhood she suffered a tragic accident, but she didn’t let that affect her ability to do anything and as she would say, “I can do anything but shuffle cards.” She played in multiple sports, but soccer is where she excelled. She loved the game and had the opportunity to play on a team that ventured overseas for a tournament, which was her highlight. Wendy liked to travel after Highschool, visiting Brazil, Thailand and Germany. Germany was always her favor place as she had a great friend- Andreas there. She came to meet Andreas through the foreign exchange program in Highschool. Andreas came for the traditional 3-week exchange and loved it so much, he asked if he could come back for a full year. Andreas returned in the fall of 1988, which was both of their senior year. Over this time, they became great friends and Andreas became part of her family like another brother.
Wendy lived her life to the fullest, she never let her handicap affect her abilities. She worked just as hard as the next person and never asked for help. She was a person that if you met her once, you would remember her. She followed a simple saying, “If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun!” She truly lived by this statement.
Wendy is survived by her brother, Jason, his wife Haley and children Logan, Tanner and Miley. Special friend/brother, Andreas. She is further survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins: Jean Peterson (Tina and Tara), Tom and Darlean Kehl (Troy, Krystal and Deanna), Jeff and Cheri Kehl (Ryan and Tanya), Mary and Dave Mayer (Michele, Kattie and Matt).
Wendy is preceded in death by her parents, Pat and Jane; grandparents, George and Dorothy Van Zummeren; step-grandfather, Johnny Helein; grandparents, Orville and Beverly Kehl.
