William J. Wolf, age 80, passed away at his home in Neenah on Tuesday November 26, 2013, after finding out he had cancer just a week earlier.
Bill joined the Painter's Union Local 781 in 1959, in Milwaukee he then transferred to Oshkosh in 1960 where he worked for Klinger Painting, Jochman Painting, and Kraunzusch Painting. He served as union secretary for Appleton Local 1098, President for Local 145, and was the business agent for 15 years. He retired in 1992.
Bill was the maintenance supervisor for the St. Joseph Food Program in Menasha from 1998-2011. He enjoyed volunteering there after retiring. Bill loved racing and was in charge of the pit gate at WIR for approximately 10 years and was associated with WIR since 1967. Bill was a racer at the drag strip and drove the pace car at the stock car track for 3 years. He enjoyed his relationship with all those involved at the track.
Bill is survived by his wife Audrey (Dickman), his sisters; Pat Schuhart of Neenah, Shari Schafer of Oshkosh, his brother Jack ( Judy) Wolf of Virginia, his sister in law Marilyn Berndt of Kaukauna, his three children; Joseph ( Michelle) Wolf of Neenah, Lori Nauber of Sheboygan, and Debra Laabs of Menasha, 9 grandchildren; Anthony, Trevor, Dylan, Mandy, Michael, Christopher, Crystal, Brittany, and Gene, and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Flora Wolf, and his brother Victor Berndt.
Bill was known for his jokes and sense of humor. He wanted to let everyone know that he would like his honorary pallbearer's to be; the Lone Ranger and Tonto, Laurel and Hardy, and the Three Stooges. Those were his favorite childhood buddies who made him laugh.
To honor his wishes, there will be no funeral, only a private family gathering.
